Everyone wants to feel safe and warm; unfortunately, some of our fellow residents have no place to call home. Yes, we have residents living in their cars and the woods here in Roxbury. During those abysmal nights, our police encourage the homeless to accept emergency shelter. Through donations, Roxbury Social Services provides this temporary emergency shelter. One night at a local hotel for a homeless person is $50, while a week for a homeless family costs $430. County, state and federal agency assistance can take weeks to begin. In the meantime, Roxbury Social Services aids in filling the gaps with your and the community's donations.
